Enough time has passed since my traumatic experience, so I can now blog about it. Remember how I posted about the bed base I had found on the side of the road, and how happy I was because I needed a new bed? hahahahahaha. Yes, well I soon found out why the bed was out on the side of the road.

Here goes: Dean and I carted the bed base home, and Tim had a spare mattress. It was a Friday night, I was sick and I had come home from work, and was so excited to have a proper bed for the first time in 6 weeks. Dean helped me put the bed together, I made the bed and climbed in, ready for sleep bliss. My skin started to feel itchy, and I thought I felt something crawling on me. I told myself it was nothing and tried to fall asleep. Again I felt itching. I switched on the light and nearly died. BED BUGS!! Holy-freaking-moly. Bigger adult ones and little baby ones, in my sheets and clothes. Ugh. Even just thinking about it makes my skin crawl. Luckily, bedbug bed was only in my room for one day, and it's been two weeks since the incident, and I've seen no bedbugs. (I did throw out all my sheets and duvet, and bomb my whole room.) But please learn from my lesson: no matter how poor you are, DO NOT take a bed base unless you know where it's been.

Luckily the story did have a happy ending: the following day I went around to Nic's place. Her lovely neighbours were having a garage sale and they gave me a bed! A 100% guaranteed bug free bed! They also delivered it to the apartment. I baked them two kinds of muffins to say thank you. The bottom support part of the bed was broken, but luckily I now live with a builder so it was easily fixed.

PS: I have decided that I would like to marry a builder one day. So handy!! Broken bed: easily fixed! Not enough shelving in the kitchen? Not a problem.
