hello! Since you last heard from me, I've had one big change: new flat! It all happened rather quickly. I had seen this place advertised about 2 weeks ago, but at that stage I was still looking for a place with Jas. Then I got completely freaked out about looking for a place to rent after several people told me how difficult it was, so I started thinking about just finding a house-share place. So I emailed again and luckily there was still a free room! I went around to meet the guys, we clicked very well, and a week later, here I am living with Dean and Tim, two (straight) vegans!! (I had to put in the bit about them being straight because it's the first question people keep asking me. I can understand the surprise, D&T are the first vegan guys I've ever met. Ever.) Tim's name is on the lease, and Dean and I were the lucky two to move in. It's a townohouse in a complex of about 10. We've got a mini courtyard on one side with the washing line, and then a bigger courtyard on the other side where I plan to plant basil and coriander. Tim has been away this weekend, he's moving all his furniture in hopefully sometime this week. Our lounge is EMPTY at the moment except for one bar stool and a fridge, and two carpets. It'll be like Christmas when we get the sofas!! (Do NZers say 'sofa' or 'couch'? Sometimes I get confused about which of my words are Americanisms (thanks, Korea)) I think we'll all get along fantastically, we already have the vegan thing in common which means we think along the same lines re: food, recycling, the environment, animals etc etc etc. Dean's already chalked up brownie points for having gin and tonic ingredients. And Tim's good with computers. And I contribute girly squealing (when i see insects) and cookbooks. And there's a cat!
Yesterday was a pretty awesome day. The sun was shining, the sky was blue, and I had plans to meet Jas in Newtown for lunch. She cancelled, but I decided to head to Newtown anyway. I adore Newtown. I rounded the corner of my street and found .... A FARMERS MARKET!! I also adore farmers markets. It's the hippy in me. Fresh organic produce from local farms = lower carbon footprint. You get to talk to the people who lovingly grew the vegetables. So much better than sterile overpriced supermarkets. And I got to say hello to many dogs! And then on the way home, I found a bed on the side of the road. Score! I need a bed! Now I just need a mattress. Hello, Universe? care to provide again?
(PS: breaking hippy news: have found food co-op near my house! They stock everything a vegan girl could want (except hot vegan boys)).

hey chickadee,
Sounds fabulous :o)
Surely your vegan houseboys know other suitable boys...? Then they'd be very useful indeed!
