Chch Veggie Expo!

So I finally got to go to the Vegetarian Expo here in Chch - and it was AMAZING! Not as amazing as a vegan expo would have been, but hey, Chch is small, a vegan expo would attract very few people.

Anyway,back to the amazingness. First of all, it was so nice to be surrounded by like-minded people and to not have to explain why I don't eat meat. And to not have knob-heads say things like “but plants have feelings too, why do you eat plants?”

The Cat Rescue people were raising money by selling .... VEGAN BAKING. I was so overwhelmed by all the delicious baked goods. I never see vegan baking around town, so I'm pretty sure the whole expo heard me shout with glee "oh my god look at all the vegan cake!"

Basically, it was all about the food. I ate veggie sausages, choc-mint slice,
chocolate heaven cake, a vegan burrito with cashew sour cream,

and a spiced orange muffin. The cakey stuff was so good! Everything was so good. Ask Yasmin, I spent all my time there eating and smiling. I also waxed lyrical to a stranger about Diva Cups. That too was fun.

I did however get a bit annoyed when I asked about vegan food at the TradeAid stall and the girl pointed to some stuff and said “here we go, but it's got eggs and honey”.

Well, darling, that's not vegan then, is it?!
