I am so very out of the music loop these days, I have no idea what's hot and I don't know many of the new artists. I only buy new music of artists I already like, like David Gray, Coldplay etc.
But in Korea, I have no choice but to be heavily exposed to K-Pop, and at the moment the Wondergirls are everywhere! I used to hate their music, I'd hear it playing at every convenience store, every bar, everywhere. But the other day, the scariest thing happened. Tynessa and I were at Coldstone Creamery and they had some Korean mix-CD playing, and I knew EVERY song! It was weird. Anyway, so now I'm embracing K-pop because it's such a big thing here. Because if you want to stay sane, then Korea is all about appreciating and embracing the ridiculousness!
Here's some Wondergirls for you to either love/hate.
Nobody (the song only starts at around 1:59), and So Hot. Their most famous is this one, Tell Me, it also happens to be the most annoying song in the world, and the easiest to get stuck in your head. Every teen knows the dance to this song, and the signature T hand movement that goes with it.
Random Wondergirls story: these girls performed at the music festival at my Uni last year, and Tynessa, Olga and I pushed our way to the front of the crowd to dance along with the mainly male audience. Note: Olga is a 50 year old Russian professor at our Uni. It was hilarious!
