tact vs. attack

we were talking about this the other day in the office, the special talent that Koreans seem to have, that of asking or saying insulting things. Of course, not in an intentionally hurtful way, but in a socially inept clueless sort of way

tact vs. attack
what Koreans lack vs. what Koreans do

today's example, which happened to me after class this evening:
Teacher, can I ask you a question? Are you pregnant?
Me: you fail!
(of course I didn't really say that, but it's what I wanted to say.)

And in case you're wondering, no I haven't put on any weight since I left NZ, my BMI is a healthy 22, I'm secure enough to post my weight online (64kg),and I would have thought that most people would consider me on the slender side. Not skinny, but definitely not pregnant!

deep breaths, count to ten, don't get angry, drink some soju
