On Sunday, I'll be doing something very special. With the Amnesty International group in Seoul, I've been given the chance to visit Sharing House, a home for comfort women, women who were forced into becoming sex slaves during World World II. These women endured unspeakable horrors, and still live with the indignity of the Japanese government's refusal to apologise.
Most of these women are of course very old and frail, and time is running out for them to witness an apology from the Japanese government, if one is ever made. We're going to visit, and listen to a talk by one of the comfort women. This will really be a truly special and moving experience, and I hope to be able to tell you all more about it after this weekend.
If you are interested in reading more, you can visit the website, click on "Bulletin Board", and read a statement by one of the comfort women, Kim Koon-Ja about her experiences.
