update

yay! i have found an apartment! its small, but not too bad for Seoul. The kitchen and bedroom are in the same room (also standard for Seoul) , lots of cupboard space, and lots of counter space too. i can only move in next week though, so I am stuck in this stinky love motel for a few more days. Yes, I said love motel. its just what it sounds like, complete with flashing coloured lights in the bedroom, and naked women etched into the bathroom door. My apartment rent is okay, W700,000 a month, but i do get around W250,000 of that paid for by school. and i am living in the big smoke now (may i just remind you that Seoul's population is three times that of NZ's!! 12 million, or 15 mil if you count the satellite cities) . i also opened a new bank account, my what a lot of paperwork.

i finished my class observations and training today, and totally kicked ass in my mock classes. Phil, my training manager, said I was the best out of all the new teachers, so yay for me. I had been doing training at the Gangnam branch, and today I visited my branch, the Seollung branch. I should be able to move into my office tomorrow (yes, my own office, complete with windows, wood panelling, and my name on the door). I will be the only female Native Teacher there. This brings back memories to Scholar Patrol ( road patrol) at school in Standard 5, I was the only girl on a team of 25, only this time around there are no fluoro orange vests and whistles involved. (unfortunately!)

Glad to see things are moving on in Seoul Ingrid.

We have been in Brussels for three days now. Tomorrow to northern France for two days - Rheims, Laon and Amiens to view three highly rated 13 century cathedrals. Wednesday off to Turkey.

This laptop has a French keybord layout - way different to the usual QWERTY keyboard - which slows one right down.

how is the weather there? Seoul is stiflingly hot! and rainy too.
i got thrown in the deep end today, was supposed to only be observing classes and setting up my office, but ended up having to teach, as another teacher called in sick.
