Politics student's heaven!!! geek alert.

Seoul weekend plans are shaping up nicely
Friday: not sure yet, but the possibilities are endless!
Saturday: well, Saturday night is all planned: beginners salsa lesson, then dinner at one of Itaewon's fabulous restaurants, maybe Greek food this time...., and then to one of the Salsa clubs where we'll practice our moves and be totally outshone by all the really good salsa dancers.
Sunday: DMZ tour! i think we have to get up really early, ouch.

some interesting snippits from my Lonely Planet re: the DMZ tour

"... there's also a dress and behaviour code, and before you enter the DMZ all visitors must sign a document absolving the UN and the South Korean government of responsibility in case of any injuries due to 'enemy action' while on the tour". WOW!

ALSO, and how cool is this, "today, the North Koreans continue to dig tunnels beneath the DMZ. The UN and ROK army have fielded tunnel-detection teams, which drill around the clock in hope of intercepting these TUNNELS OF AGGRESSION". tunnels of aggression! this shall be my new phrase.

*sigh* I love authoritarian regimes. and by love I mean am intensely fascinated by, not in a liking the disrespecting human rights kind of a way. Next stop: Myanmar!
