my last post from the Philippines =(

well, the Sugod chapter of my life is closed (for now - I WILL visit there again, I can't not visit.) Rita (fellow volunteer who also stayed at Ma'am Tess' house) and I left Sugod on Monday morning. Monday was a little early considering that Rita's flight was Thursday and mine is tomorrow (Saturday), but cyclone season + my paranoia about missing transport = early departure. I failed miserably at not crying when I left. It's all the old grandma's fault. I went in to say goodbye, and when I told her I wasn't coming back for a few years, she started crying. That set Ma'am Tess and I off, which in turn set Rita off too. Ma'am Tess traveled with us as far as San Agustin, and our farewell with her was the hardest.
Our boat trip was uneventful and fast, we arrived 90 mins early at 1.30am. We had promised Ma'am Tess to not catch an early bus to Manila, so we slept on uncomfortable chairs in the port terminal until 4am, and caught a bus at 6am. we eventually arrived at the CERV dorm in Quezon City at 9.30am. We didn't do much for the rest of the day. I woke up after a nap feeling nasty with what I can only guess was dehydration. Every time I moved my head I felt very dizzy, ugh, I hope you never experience dehydration, it's horrible. Rita got me Gatorade and Skittles and I felt much better.
On Wednesday we went to the mall (cliche yes, but you can't argue with free aircon!) We saw the Harry Potter movie and eat cheesecake. I have one more day of non-veganism left, the countdown is on.
This morning I left the CERV dorm and met up with Joy, Ma'am Tess' daughter. I'm staying with her for my last night. Tomorrow we're going to the infamously busy Quiapo market, and then I'll leave by taxi for the airport at around 3pm.
see you all soon!
