As I mentioned in my previous food, one of the lovely things about being home is cooking! My mom has an impressive spice collection that I have been making good use of. (secret shame: I spent this evening organising all the herbs and spices. I even made an alphabetic list with details, like
cumin (ground) small plastic tub so that I can find things easily instead of having to rifle through the numerous ice-cream boxes full of spices)
So far I've made:
- Pear and Cranberry Tart from VwaV, pic below

- Teriyaki Tofu with Peanut Dipping Sauce from Tofu 1-2-3, pic below

- Mellow Yellow Sniffle Soup (for when you've got the sniffles!) from ED&BV
- Roasted Tomato Bean Soup from Vive le Vegan!
- and Carrot Spice Snack Cake also from Tofu 1-2-3.
I have 2 more cookbooks winging their way over the ocean towards me:
Vegan Lunch Box and
Vegan Brunch. Both have received fantastic reviews. I'm especially excited about Vegan Lunch Box because of the pictures of lunches in cute lunchboxes. I'm a sucker for cute lunchboxes. When I have an income and am settled, I think I shall start collecting them. And Vegan Brunch will be kick-ass too as it's written by Isa Chandra Mosokowitz who wrote
Vegan with a Vengeance and
Veganomicon.
