what else....
Pippi is NOT a fan of her reindeer outfit, but I love it. Seriously, look at the picture in the post below, you'll see that it's impossible to disagree with me. Tynessa's cat Chitchy has one too.
Today I had the first of many 'lasts'. Today's 'last' was my last lesson with Taylor, the businessman that I've been teaching 3 mornings a week for the last 3 or 4 months. On the plus side, no more 6.20am wakeups, but I will miss the extra money. And it was such a joy teaching a student who is so enthusiastic and excited about learning English.
The ladies at the Seoul Women's Migrant Centre threw me a wee party on Monday, totally unexpected, since I don't leave for another month or so. Thu, the Vietnamese girl I teach there gave me a painting she'd done, and the other ladies gave me books (all in Korean!) hopefully I can find a similar organisation in NZ to volunteer at.
I've also got only one more rostered shift at the cat shelter, since I start class again next week. It's been so great helping out there, it's like free therapy for me! You can't possible feel down when you're surrounded by 20 purring happy kitties!
One of the things I've really loved about the cat shelter is seeing newly rescued cats change from being absolutely frightened to loving and enjoying human attention. This is especially true with Lara.
That's Lara on the right, with her sister Ara. They were completely wild. Both stayed in that container for about a month, hissing and flattening their ears every time I entered the room. Now, Lara is a changed cat. (Ara is too, but I love Lara more.) She sidles up to me when I arrive and nudges up against me, cute as pie. She loves having her head and chin rubbed. Oh, if I could afford to bring another cat home, it'd be Lara!
