well, my lovely time in Railey (google it, its amazingly beautiful) is over. Railey is made up of two beaches, attached to the rest of Thailand, but only accessible by boat, so you feel like you're on an island. I was there for 3 nights 4 days. Unfortunately, I never got to see the sunset that Lonely Planet described as "orgasmically beautiful", because it was cloudy all three nights. The sun did show it's face during the day though, so I wasn't too annoyed. Spent the first day just lazing on the beach, swimming and readying. Day 2: more swimming, and also sea-kayaking with Danny and Lindsay ( fellow Khao Lak volunteers). Snorkeling attempts were unsuccessful though, the water was too cloudy and the waves a little rough. I also made my way over to another small beach nearby, after a 45 min hike though the forest and up and down a big hill. My breakfast was interrupted by a squirrel. then i ran into Dan and Lindsay again, and we found the beach / rock trail back to our beach.
Now I'm in Krabi, but I still feel like I'm on the long-tail boat back. I have this weird thing, its happened before. I remember in 4th form, i did a day long kayak trip, and that evening I felt as if I was still on the kayak. and after a day spent at Dreamworld a couple years back, that evening I felt as if I was still on the rollercoasters. weird.
anyway, i'll be catching the bus and train back up to BKK tomorrow, travelling 3rd class on the overnight train, again no sleeper seats available. I think 3rd class means a wooden bench. should be interesting as the trip is over 12 hours. mind you, i've already got a sore bottom after the longtail boat from Railey.
whew.
only one more week in wonderful Thailand, and then I'm back to Seoul. how depressing.
