I was in such a bad mood at the supermarket yesterday. I only had $5, but my bagels, hamburger buns (go the carbs!) and tomatoes came to around $7. so I had to sacrifice the tomatoes and hamburger buns, because there was no point buying one and not the other, since they'd be used together. so anyway, I was stomping around Emart, not helped by annoying incompetent people who can't direct trolleys properly, when, like magic, a Bic Runga song came on!!!! A Bic Runga song!! At Emart!! I n Korea!! and, even better, just as I went to the checkout, Bic sang the lyrics "at the supermarket checkout". of course, no one could understand why I was laughing hysterically.
and then, I walked into the door, and people laughed at me.
anyway, today I had 2 interesting students. The first was a flight attendant, so of course I had to ask her about her uniform, and then as soon as she left, google her uniform, to see if it was as cool as the Singapore Airlines one, but alas, it wasn't. hers was gray and boring, but still better than the Air NZ ones that are supposedly stylish but really look like gray sacks.
and then, my second interesting student was a maths lecturer, who wanted to practice his presentation. Now I'm not the biggest fan of maths, I hated calculus big time, but differentiation in 6th Form Maths was pretty cool. and there was some differentiation in his talk. and LOTS of Greek symbols, and a whole of stuff that made my head hurt. but it was such a refreshing change from the usual businessmen (or 'salarymen' as they're called here) that we have.
