Today i trekked to the Gangnam Public Library, after reading online that foreigners could definitely join the library, provided we bring our Alien Cards. with my card in hand, and a spring in my step (i love libraries) I headed off to sign up. However, the not-so-helpful librarians wouldn't let me join! why? Because I am not a Seoul citizen. what the hell? i live here, I work here, I pay taxes. next step: I got work to ring them, but still no luck, and the same excuse: non-citizens may not join!
but, fear not, for I am like a bull-terrier when it comes to things I think are not true or unfair: I just don't let go! I rang the Seoul Help Center for Foreigners (bless their kind souls), who did something, and I can now join up! but i bet I'll be greeting with attitude tomorrow when I return tomorrow and sign up.
