my new baby

don't worry Mom, its not a little half Korean baby, I'm talking about my newest purchase, an oven! And my first cooking venture using it was baba ghanoush - yum! Next time you go to the supermarket and casually pick up a tub of this yummy stuff, just think, "wow, Ingrid made this from scratch, including the tahini", because I did.

update: i made veg sushi today, with baked tofu!

You are all kinds of Vegan Awesome. I was explaining to someone the other day how cross i was that you were now vegan, as we had vegetarian friends and there were levels within them, never mentioned, but everyone knew- the Awesome Excellent Vegetarians, the Wicked Good Vegetarians, the Pretty Average Vegetarians, and the Frankly Quite Naughty Vegetarians. Liss, obviously, was up there at Awesome Excellent. But you, you were with me in the Frankly Quite Naughty category. We were aspirational, but lazy. But now, you've left me all alone to be Frankly Quite Naughty, and gone and got all kinds of awesome. Damn you! Here i am, sneaking the occasional jellybean, not asking about cheese in restaurants. Sigh.

Yes, that's the other annoying bit, I have to say. Bring back Ingrid who thought toast was a food group!
I don't need you any more, i have Lou, who buys ordinary cheese, and didn't know that sour cream has naughty things in it. i can even feel superior sometimes, and i LOVE feeling superior.
Come back, naughty vegetarian who eats chips for tea!
(by the way, Mrs Potgeiter, the above is all lies, Ingrid has only ever eaten nutritionally sensible meals. Ever.)

Let's be honest, if i was really your friend, i'd be able to spell your name properly.
