every now and then we hear something that reminds us how fragile life is and how unfair it is, and how quickly people we love can be snatched away from us.
My mom rang me yesterday to say that close family friends of ours from South Africa, Jochen, his wife Christiana and their daughter Stefanie were in a horrific car accident. Thankfully,their son Kai was not in the car. Jochen and my Dad are friends from their uni days. Christiana had broken ribs, bones and spine injuries, and Stefanie was in coma. Jochen's injuries werent as bad. Stefanie, 18 years old, died a few days ago.
I havent seen this family for about 7 years, but wow, I still cant quite take the news in. My sister will go the funeral and represent our family. What do you say to people in a time like this? I cannot even begin to understand what they are going through.
anyway, i guess what we should take from this is that life is short, you never know what is around the corner, and you should appreciate every day that you are given, and appreciate and love the people in your life.
