I am very pleased, I managed to follow Linda's instructions to find the Pakistani shop that sells spices and vegetarian necessities. I left their store with bags of coriander, turmeric, curry powder, chilli powder, lentils and chickpeas. I am so happy! The ordinary shops sell only pepper and redbean paste, so proper spices are very exciting. Now I have no excuse not to cook.
I went for my first Korean lesson today at the YMCA, and met another Kiwi girl who also studied in Dunedin. She's only been here a week, so for the first time I actually seemed knowledgeable about living in Daegu. I took her to the bank, to Walmart, and on the subway. Its amazing to think that 2 months ago I was the same, not knowing anything.
The lesson was great, there are about ten people in our class, all English teachers. Today we learnt about 15 of the 35 alphabet letters. Its incredibly satisfying being able to read all or some of a shop or road sign, even if we don't know what they mean.
