Korea update

Considering that I started this blog with the intention of it being all about my preparation and experiences in Korea, I should really give you all an update!
well first off, it seems that everyone knows someone who has either been to Korea or is there now. I have heard so much anecdotal advice, I have learnt to take it all with a teaspoon of salt. The JP i went to said her sister had arrived in Korea, the recruitment agency took one look at her at the airport, and immediately cancelled her visa and her job. scary!

My progress so far:
Well, the agency that I was going to go with, TeachKoreaNZ, has disappeared! gone without out a trace. their office is now a student flat, their contact phone number is out of order, and I have had no reply to my emails. I suppose its better it happened now and not just before I go or while I'm over there.
So I have been investigating other agencies, such as www.footprintsrecruiting.com, and www.eslposition.com. Advice from Ana and Fiona is that its not even that necessary to go through an agency and that it is easy enough to find a job directly, as long as one knows what one should expect in a contract.

I've had my degree notarised, so the next step is to send that up to the Korean Embassy in Auckland. Easy enough to do, but I keep forgetting to bring all my stuff into uni with me.

So thats my Korea progress so far.....still plodding along with my thesis, but I have moved out of the office and into the library, the boys in the office are so noisy, and they talk nonsense most of the time.
